Watchtower Annulled My Baptism
by RICHT incontrary to popular belief you can have your baptism annulled as i did by my local elders after my judicial hearing.. the watchtower of 1964 page 126 first paragraph clearly states that anyone that was committing a gross sin before, during and after their baptism is void.
in order to get right with the lord you would need to be re-baptised.
err no thanks, i'm not a believer!!!!.

Data for Partakers from 1935-2016. Latest number wasn´t this high since 1954!
by ILoveTTATT2 ini gathered the data for the memorial partakers every year since 1935 (the first year they had data) until now.. the latest figures haven't been that high since 1954!.
this stat looks very bad in watchtower land because the decreasing # of partakers was given, for decades, as proof that the end was near!.

There is obviously a higher case of mental illness going on now. Most new partakers that I knew were literally, and I'm not making light of this, mentally ill. It was rare to meet a new partaker who wasn't mentally ill. You have to feel bad for them.

Not a sympathizer
by Richard Oliver ini think everyone here is under the impression that i am a watchtower sympathizer, i am not.
i just like facts and when people say things, which are their opinions but that facts point out as not being true, than that is when i get so motivated to make a comment.
i have read posts here, listened to six screens and read jwsurvey and seen things that people say, which are opinion, but pass them off as fact.. there are legitimate things that people on here and former jws have concerns over without manipulating what is said or trying to pass off opinion as a fact.

Richard,
Some people on here have such hatred built up in their heart they cannot see the forest for the trees. Try to rationalize something or disagree with them (like each of us can't have our own opinion or believe something slightly different) and they start to act just like the so-called crazy, evil witnesses that they say were so controlling and who ruined their life. To then come on here, or any ex-witness forum for that matter, and act like everything has to be only one way is rather strange and hypocritical.
If you don't believe that JW's are Nazi Germany in disguise then you will be beat senseless with hatred by people who are supposed to be on your own side; and no evidence, stats, or reasoning will do even if it is 100% percent verifiable.
We live in a new age where people just go around trying to affirm what they already believe whether it is right or wrong or downright crazy; and anyone who disagrees with them is the enemy and "bad."

Some apostates are coming across as crazed psychopaths
by jambon1 ini'm not sure whether or not my view on this is correct so please leave your input.
in recent months i've been viewing youtube videos.
again, it might just be my view but there has been an increased amount of random people grabbing a camera and doing vlogs.

There are crazy witnesses and good witnesses and everything in between. That in turn means there will be crazy ex-witnesses, good ex-witnesses, and everything in between.
This is how it usually works for any group of people. And unfortunately no one can control anyone else; and most people don't listen to reason now-a-days so there are always going to be aggressive people who make themselves look like idiots.

I only see someone come on here once in a while and post something in retort. Is this really a big problem here on this forum? -

Is strong faith or belief in religion or "God" a mental disorder?
by kpop init is a most interesting study.
when one studies anthropology, one can see how the "need" for belief in a higher being evolved from early man.
and it served a purpose.

Karl Marx said that "religion is the opium of the masses," and Vladimir Putin, who is no genius, just worships anything Marx has to say. Putin has taken most rights and freedoms away from Russians, so I wouldn't work myself up into a lather to praise the guy. The second he gets the chance to take away your freedoms he will.
Saying someone who believes in a religion must have a mental disorder is no different than those same people who are religious saying that someone who doesn't have a religion has a mental disorder. It's an easy way out that takes no thought into consideration; and it is really cowardly when someone tries to denigrate something they loath by insulting it instead of trying to understand the complicated mechanisms that make up all of humanity.
Just because we may think something is so doesn't make it right.

I'm not sure what she could sue the WT for. Where were they negligent in this?
Sounds like sharks circling in the water.

"back in the day people didn't know not to abuse kids"- a jw explanation for their abuse scandal
by purrpurr ina few weeks back i showed the guardian article about the borg refusing to cooperate with the charity commission into child abuse to a fellow jw.
their response was quite amazing.
they told me that in the 50s-80s people didn't know about child abuse, didn't know it was wrong and no one really believed children when they claimed they had been abused - even worldly people.. they said that alot of the time children lie about being abused or therapists plant false memories in their heads and that apostates lie about being abused to undermine our faith.. about the borg not cooperating with the commission they said that it was probably because they wanted to protect the identities of jw's who had been abused.

It is true that 30, 40, and 50 years ago that child abuse was never talked about, people thought children were potentially lying, and that it wasn't the issue that is it nowadays. Western society has come a long way about child abuse the last 50 years, because it used to be hush-hush, it was never brought to the authorities, and it was something taboo and shameful; and even when kids came forward their parents would never go to the police. I have non-JW's relatives who were abused by parents and priests 40 years ago and none of them went to the police. It was considered shameful for the family to even let it be known that it happened. That's just the way society was. I think we often forget this. Nobody was talking about child abuse 30 and 40 years ago. Not like now.

This topic is stupid. There were Jews who betrayed Jews in concentration camps and acted as Copos. So what does that have to do with the majority of Jews who were slaughtered? There will always be outliers in any group. Non-JW historians have written numerous accounts about JW's in Nazi concentration camps. There were JW's who were slaughtered in the camps. It's horrible any way you look at it. And to try and spin events with the idea of always trying to put JW's in negative light is the exact sort of thing most of you rile against about them.
And blaming Rutherford for what Hitler did is really ignorant. I don't think Rutherford wanted to see Jews killed and slaughtered and burned in ovens. Nor could he have foresaw Hitler killing JW's like he did or putting them in camps or cutting their heads off. No one did. But now you all look back and want to rewrite what actually happened when most of you are bias by a strange obsessive hatred, never mind the fact that most of you never went to college, and certainly none of you are un-bias scholars.
It's rather funny how some of you let your absolute hatred of everything JW let yourself do constant revision of history. It certainly isn't fair or balanced, and the constant drum beat that everything that has ever happened in the history of Jehovah's Witness is a lie would seem to negate your ability to comment on almost anything. These posts are always full of vitriolic hatred. How anyone could take them seriously is beyond me. It is akin to sports fans of one team talking about their rivals and how terrible and rotten and evil they are and everything they do is nefarious. Objectivity here is usually in short supply.

by oppostate inor maybe not so surprising after all, you be the judge....

P.S. - I said Tony has always been dirt poor. His father was middle class. Certainly not in the Phillip Morris category. His father stopped talking to him back in the 70's. He disowned Tony when he became a Witness.
